Latest Project…
I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been unbelievably busy. In addition to working on some major enhancements for our lead subscription service, I’ve been working on building a 2 car detached garage with a 1 bed/1 bath apartment above it at one of our investment properties. Though I’ve have experience with almost every aspect of the project I’ve never designed and created an entire building from scratch, so it should be interesting.
In addition to the garage we’re going to be improving the interior with new bamboo floors, contemporary lighting fixtures, new tiles in the tub surround and on the outside we’ll being installing new doors, windows, siding, grass and driveway. I’m going to be posting pictures of the project along the way and the transformation should truly be amazing!
This house is really non-conventional so instead of fighting the style and make it something that it’s not we’ve decided to work with it and make it even more of a jem. It’ll definitely be something not easily found in North Carolina!
Here’s what the house originally looked like (click for full-size image):
We’ve since cut down many of the trees in the front and back that were near the house and in addition to grass we’ll be putting in a gravel horseshoe-shaped driveway in front, a concrete pad before the garage on the right of the house with wrap-around concrete pathways to the front door as well as to the back patio.
The back of the house is where the most dramatic changes are going to be. This is the before (click for full-size image):
The almost completely obscured area with the slight green tinge is actually a 20×40 inground swimming pool that has since had its lining changed and a new loop-loc cover installed (that now has a couple of holes in it thanks to the tree guys). The hard to see decking has all been completely removed; it had reached the end of its life. It will be replaced with concrete which is cheaper and more durable.
Next week I’ll go over the financials and I’ll keep you updated on the progress. I also post new pictures as soon as I get them.
